Five Week Sessions

Option 1 - Five Week University Credit Program

During the spring and summer five-week sessions, over 500 participants from across Canada, the United States and elsewhere, have the opportunity to enroll in a degree-credit course from Western University's undergraduate curriculum.  All are welcome, regardless of previous education.  The French Immersion School in Trois-Pistoles offers degree-credit courses in French language (beginner to advanced), oral French, as well as, from time to time, courses in other disciplines.

Please read the Student Handbook for further details about this program, including your responsibilities during your time in Trois-Pistoles. The following resources will assist you in planning your immersion experience:

What to Expect during the first few days of the program along with a sample calendar of events;
Travel Information with methods of transportation and suggested arrival and departure dates; a
Checklist for packing; and information regarding the optional Quebec City trip.

If you do not have the required prerequisite for a course, please complete the online placement test and select an appropriate level course.  Adjustments, if any, will be made in Trois-Pistoles after consultation with an instructor.

I've always liked French but I stopped studying it after high school. Now as an occasional teacher, I felt it was time to return to my French studies to help me secure a permanent post and for my own personal development. I felt supported and challenged in Trois-Pistoles and I'm really glad I made the decision to come here. I have learned a lot, especially in the oral comprehension and oral pronunciation part of the language which is the part that is so hard to learn by yourself!
